Sunday in Brisbane Garden

I had a night shoot planned in Brisbane’s CBD, but I arrived way too early. With hours to spare and the city still very brightly lit by the sun, I wandered into the Botanic Gardens to pass the time. It honestly turned out to be one of the better decisions I’ve made this week.

I’ve visited the gardens plenty of times, but it never fail to impress. On this quiet Sunday, they were exactly what I needed. I strolled past familiar plants, soaking in the calm. Spring hasn’t fully kicked in yet, so the blooms were sparse, but I’m expecting more colour later this month.

The dome is always a highlight for me, especially the gentle mist that rolls through to keep the greenhouse humid. It’s like stepping into another world.

Some of my shots lacked colour, so I leaned into it and went black and white. It gave the images a moodier edge, and I kind of love how they turned out.
